to Hurricane Katrina Devastation in Mississippi"
- Worley, Idaho - The
"Guy & Ralna" Concerts scheduled for Friday, September
16 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Casino in
Worley, Idaho, have been cancelled due to the devastation of
hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Guy Hovis not
only performs as part of the singing duo, "Guy & Ralna
of The Lawrence Welk Show," but also serves as State Director
for U.S. Senator Trent Lott's Offices in Mississippi.
"I'm really sorry that we have to cancel these concerts,
but the devastation in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area is beyond
belief. I'm desperately needed in Mississippi to help coordinate
the disaster relief operation," said Hovis from his Jackson,
Mississippi office.
"If anyone would like to donate to help our recovery, they
can send their checks made payable to: Mississippi Hurricane
Recovery Fund, PO Box 3562, Jackson, MS 39207," (www.mississippirecovery.com)
said Hovis. "And, we all need your prayers," he added.
Ralna issued this statement, "It is with deep disappointment
and regret that we will not be performing for our wonderful fans
in the Spokane, WA/Coeur d'Alene, ID areas at this time. However,
we appreciate your understanding and ask for your prayers for
those in need."
Hurricane Katrina, a category 4 hurricane, struck Louisiana,
Mississippi and Alabama on August 29 and completely wiped out
the entire Mississippi coast line from New Orleans to Mobile,
Alabama. Katrina also devastated south central Mississippi from
the Gulf Coast up to 150 miles inland.
